Linear

Read your workspace; create, comment on and update issues.

The Linear connector lets Mel's agent read your Linear workspace (issues, projects, cycles, teams, comments and documents) and create issues, add comments and update an issue. It runs on your own Linear API key.

Recording needed: the Linear connector in Settings ▸ Connectors, then Mel creating an issue after approval

Connect it

  1. In Linear, open Settings ▸ Security & access and create a personal API key. To let Mel create and update issues, give it the Write permission.
  2. In Mel, open Settings ▸ Connectors, find Linear and click Connect.
  3. Paste the key and click Save and connect.

The key is stored on your computer; each call you approve carries it through Mel's server, which forwards it to the service and does not store it.

What the agent can do

Read. Issues, projects, cycles, teams, comments and documents, through Linear's own read-only MCP server.

Write.

ToolWhat it does
list_teams_and_statesThe teams and their workflow states, so Mel uses the right names
create_issueCreate an issue in a team
add_commentComment on an issue
update_issueChange an issue's state, assignee, priority or title

Each write reads what it needs first and makes one change last, so a refused call has changed nothing.

Limitations

  • Without the Write permission, the read tools work and the write tools are refused.
  • Mel doesn't delete issues, projects or comments.

FAQ

Can Mel see my whole workspace? It sees what your key can see.
