Vercel
Projects, deployments, logs, env vars and domains; deploy.
The Vercel connector lets Mel's agent manage your Vercel projects: read projects, deployments and build logs, deploy from GitHub or straight from files, redeploy, promote, manage environment variables and domains. It runs on your own Vercel token, so every change happens on your account.
Connect it
- In Vercel, create a token under Account Settings ▸ Tokens.
- In Mel, open Settings ▸ Connectors, find Vercel and click Connect.
- Paste the token and click Save and connect.
The token is stored on your computer; each call you approve carries it through Mel's server, which forwards it to the service and does not store it.
What the agent can do
| Area | Tools |
|---|---|
| Projects | List, read and create projects; list teams |
| Deployments | List and read deployments, read build logs; deploy from git or from files; redeploy, promote, cancel or delete a deployment |
| Environment variables | List names, set and delete values |
| Domains | List, add and remove domains; list aliases |
Deploying
- From GitHub (
deploy_from_git): Vercel builds a branch of a GitHub repository. Vercel's GitHub app needs access to that repository. A project name that doesn't exist yet creates the project. - From files (
deploy_files): a small static site, sent in one request. At most 100 files and 1 MB of text in total, text files only. A bigger site goes on GitHub first (see GitHub).
Both return the deployment's URL while it builds, and the agent can check its state until it's ready.
Creating a project deploys nothing on its own.
Good to know
- Environment variable values are never read back. Mel can list their names and set new values.
- If the Vercel CLI is signed in on your computer, you can also just ask: Mel runs
vercelcommands through the normal command approval.
FAQ
Can Mel deploy to production? Yes. deploy_from_git and deploy_files deploy to production unless Mel asks for a preview, and promoting a deployment makes it production. The approval card puts production and money first, so you see it before you click.
